Pueblo PD received Its Third Law Enforcement Accreditation

The Pueblo Police Department received its third law enforcement accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) last week in Garden Grove, California. CALEA's accreditation is a voluntary program demonstrating professional standards, with less than 5% of law enforcement agencies nationwide achieving this recognition. In Colorado, only 20 out of 246 agencies have full accreditation. The Pueblo Police Department's initial CALEA accreditation was awarded on March 25, 2017, after a three-year evaluation of operations. They earned their first reaccreditation on March 27, 2021, with no standards issues, followed by a second reaccreditation on March 22, 2025.Police Chief Chris Noeller thanked Corporal Katie LaConte for her efforts in the accreditation process, emphasizing the department's commitment to national best practices. CALEA’s process includes a four-year cycle with annual compliance checks and site visits. This accreditation provides benefits like improved decision-making and enhanced community relations.
